June 18, 12 days since the detox ended
It’s almost two weeks since the detox ended, and I’m still seeing the results. Kevin is making fun of my ‘hip-hop’ look, since all my jeans are 1 – 2 sizes too big for me now. I’m continuing my habits since the detox: taking the Vitalizer pack every morning, having food cravings to eat at the right times of day.
As passionate as I am about food, nothing has triggered my old ways of wanting to binge on a particular food. I famously love a banana chocolate cake Kevin calls ‘the Monkey cake’ If I had a particularly stressful time, I would think about that cake, maybe for several days, until I would implode on the weekend and want to binge on a big fat slice of it. Now, I think about a certain flavor (like barbecue or Shanghai noodles) and I want to taste it, but I don’t obsess about it like I used to, and I can’t imagine eating a large quantity of it.
My mood is really much calmer since before the detox. It definitely stabilized my sugar and salt levels. If anything, flavors are stronger. I had a cup of coffee for the first time yesterday, and I had to dilute it with hot water! We continue to eat a lot of fruit now, again just by habit. There are so many good fruits this time of year, the strawberries taste like candy! My senses of smell and taste are more intensified, so I can appreciate flavors more than ever now…I think that makes my cooking better too!
